Michael Smith presents "Family Tree Maker - Part 2. Family Book Creator, a Functional Overview"
Family Tree Maker (FTM) can run companion programs also known as plugins. These are programs that provide additional functionality to FTM using the family history data stored in FTM.
Family Book Creator (FBC) is one of these programs and it provides a relatively quick and simple way to create a book using the data stored in FTM. The program was developed by Stefan Harms who works out of Hamburg, Germany. It is available from his website (Family Book Creator) for around A$90.00. It will run on both Windows and Apple computers.
FBC is a very powerful piece of software; it can produce an excellent fully formatted book in a very short time. It will save months, possibly even years over writing the book in MS Word, Publisher, or the like and can be produced in several formats, e.g. Word, .PDF, eBook etc. It will include chapters for each family, an editable title page, colophon, dedication, table of contents and introduction. Photos can be selected for inclusion and adjusted to what them to look like. It also includes person and place indexes along with bibliography and sourcing information. It comes with a comprehensive instruction manual.
This session will look at FBC’s functionality, it is not intended to be an operational instruction. It will explore the menus and the options within them to make a book look just how you want it to look. A demonstration showing how quickly a book can be created and a look at the finished product will also be included.
